Caramel

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 93 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many slender, crooked stems covered in fine, rough, silver bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with large amounts of tiny, needle-like, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in blood red, indigo and caramel varieties, light and soft.

In mid-summer it produces lots of small, blood red blossoms with 2 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like cinnamon.

In early autumn tiny long, curved fruits ripen. The fuzzy cream skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft sky blue flesh is sour and powdery. The silver seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.
