Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)This small flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its caramel and gray stem is thin and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, gray leaves are slender, pointed with tattered edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.
Each stem splits 3 to 9 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 12 cm (4.7 inches) wide, with solid turquoise petals decorated with magenta dots and a black central disk. The flower head is largely flat with 36 tightly layered round-tipped petals. They are hardy.
It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like alcohol, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a small species of bird.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
