Bronzeberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, crooked trunk covered in waxy, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of giant, slender, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either gold or bronze, with red splotches.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of giant, hazel blossoms with 4 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like cherry.

In late autumn it produces small, wide fruit. The leathery aquamarine skin is thick and inedible, and the soft cyan flesh is sour and dry. The lime seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
