Crimson Vine

This big vine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 372 feet (113.4 meters) and growing as high as 44 feet (13.4 meters). It prefers to grow on specific trees.

It takes 4 years for the orange-yellow stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 1.7 feet (51 cm) and are flat and wavy.

The pleated, fuzzy leaves reach up to 1.8 feet (56 cm) in length. They are either crimson or violet, with dark brown streaks, and have tattered edges.

During late spring, the vine produces copious amounts of average indigo flowers, and during the early winter, after flowering, it produces a handful of small fruits.
