Azureberry

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 76 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, wonky trunk covered in waxy, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of giant, broad, flat leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid azure or dark brown, with pink dots.

In early spring, it produces thousands of giant, florescent red blossoms with 7 cylindrical shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like a woman.

In late summer it produces , circular fruit. The rough beige skin is peel-able and edible when cooked; it is bitter and spicy, and the slightly crunchy blue flesh is sour and oily. The silver seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
