Lilac

This colossal shrub grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 177 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous narrow, curved stems covered in ridged, silver bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are short stubs with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, thick, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are lilac on the edges and hazel at the center, flimsy and leathery.

In late spring it produces copious amounts of tiny, turquoise blossoms with long, narrow petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like pot-purri.

In mid-autumn oval fruits ripen. The rough cream skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy blood red flesh is salty and juicy. The dull orange seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
