Caramel Flower

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its gray stem is very thin, and the giant, hazel or caramel leaves are very thin with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 2 to 5 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with azure petals on the lower layer and deep blue petals decorated with violet dots on the inner layer. The central disk is copper. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 51 petals. They detach easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like cigarette smoke, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.
