Coppervine

This colossal bine is a very slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 502 feet (153.0 meters) and growing as high as 914 feet (278.6 meters).

It takes 13 years for the gray-green stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 4.5 feet (1.4 meters) and are rough and prickly.

The needle-like, waxy leaves reach up to 2.6 feet (79 cm) in length. They are slate on the sides and blood red at the center, and have wavy edges.

During late spring, the bine produces thousands of large copper flowers, and during the late summer, after flowering, it produces a few small seed pods.
