Coral Trumpet

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its pink-red stems grow in bunches of 4 and are thick with a curved tip, and the huge, orange-yellow leaves are light moss green on the underside and are wispy with wavy edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 15 cm (5.9 inches) wide, with petals that are dark orange in the center, muted purple in the middle and blue at the edges. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 4 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a powerful scent that smells like citrus, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.
