Azure Fingerpine

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This massive fruit tree grows up to 72 feet (21.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with small bunches of giant, long, narrow leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid hazel with peach streaks.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, dark brown blossoms with long, tapering petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like rotten egg.

In early autumn it produces large, finger-like fruit. The rubbery washed-out blue skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy washed-out blue flesh is sweet and powdery. The dark grey seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
