Orangeleaf Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This small leaf succulent grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The thin stem is pink-red, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible slate spines. The rounded-edged, very thin leaves are orange and dark orange. Small bunches of them grow from the base in alternating layers of 3, then 6, then 9, and so on. The leaves are delicate, but do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 24 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are magenta at the sides and bronze at the center grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like misty mornings.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the slate flesh is leathery, and the gold sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
