Aquamarine

This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its yellow stem is wispy and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, pink-red leaves are slender, pointed with wavy edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

A single giant flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with solid aquamarine petals decorated with amber lines and a drab green central disk. The flower head is shaped like a tube made up of 5 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like vomit, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
