Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 6 needle-like stems. Each stem is brown, and is dotted with small cream spines.

It is quick growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are amber on the edges and black at the center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 10 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight bowl. It has an intensely strong scent that smells like soap.

The cactus's skin is thick, the bronze flesh is soft, and the magenta sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
