Ashy Blue Fruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in silky, brown-green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is gray.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of miniature, needle-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are ashy blue and bronze.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, blue blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

In early winter it produces , needle-like fruit. The smooth washed-out green skin is delicate and salty, and the slightly crunchy olive flesh is bitter and sour and dry. The brown seeds are large and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
