Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 126 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in hard, knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with small bunches of covered in fine hairs, giant, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown with hazel tips.

In late summer it forms giant, hazel, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

The leaves are excellent for making pulp fibers.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
