Peachpetal

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its red stem is very thick and straight, and the miniature, burgundy leaves are cylindrical with tattered edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with solid peach petals decorated with grey dots and a sky blue central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 56 petals. They detach easily.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like sweat, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
