Silvervine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 103 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of slender, angular stems covered in very thick, rough, dark green bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are very short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of miniature, perforated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are slate and silver, frail and smooth.

In early summer it produces several small, lilac flowers with asymmetrical petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an intense scent that smells like musk.

The grains are bitter, but very healthy and slightly spicy.
