This moss green moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In rainy mountain ranges.
It is average-sized, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they are slow to spread and grow, and is slightly sturdy; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release thousands of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.
