Indigo Succulent

This average-sized leaf succulent grows up to 40 feet (12.2 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is copper, and is covered in brittle cream spines. The pebble-like leaves are found in dull blue, brown and indigo varieties. Sparse amounts of them grow on narrow, yellow-green branches that trail down towards the ground. The leaves are robust, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is slow growing, taking 20 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with alternating petals of gold and crimson, with a lilac central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 43 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like pepper.

The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the violet flesh is smooth, and the brown sap is thin.
