Burgundy Daisy

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its burgundy stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 8 and are very thick and straight, and split into many branching stems at the top, and the tiny, yellow leaves are stiff, pointed with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two medium-sized flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with brown petals and a copper central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 43 petals. They fall easily.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like marzipan, and it has copious amounts of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
