Silverbark Pine

This large tree grows up to 76 meters (249.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 113 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, twisting trunk covered in silky, gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are long and thick, with thousands of twigs covered with sparse amounts of large, light brown needles. The needles themselves are robust.

In late summer it produces tiny, light brown, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
